Interactive guide to assembling, splitting, bridging, and exporting bike routes.
Upload multiple GPX files by dragging them onto the left sidebar or click 'Load 3 Sample Routes'. The app automatically analyzes intersecting and overlapping paths, breaking your routes down into distinct, non-overlapping sub-segments.
GPS Overlap Tolerance
Use the slider in the Sub-segments panel to fine-tune how close tracks must be (in meters) to be recognized as the same path.
Include / Exclude
Click the green/red buttons on any sub-segment card to include or remove it from your final merged route. The stats bar recalculates in real-time.
Refine segment cuts directly on the interactive map without leaving your workflow.
Split Sub-segment at Cursor
Hold Shift and click anywhere along a trace line on the map to split that sub-segment into two separate segments at that exact coordinate.
Custom Bridge Points
Shift-clicking also creates anchor points that you can immediately click to start or end a bridge connection.
Invert Direction
Click the 'Invert' button on any trace or sub-segment to reverse its travel direction (swapping its start [S] and end [E] points).
Seamlessly connect two separate tracks across roads or trails using smart routing powered by OpenRouteService.
Click the [S] (Start) or [E] (End) pin marker on any sub-segment on the map.
Click the [S] or [E] pin marker of another sub-segment, or Shift-click on any trace point.
Choose Road (paved roads), Gravel (unpaved trails & backroads), Touring (scenic balanced paths), or E-Bike. Your profile preference is automatically remembered for future bridges.
Review the calculated route distance, elevation, and riding duration. Click 'Add Connector' to insert it as an active sub-segment into your merged route.
When you are satisfied with your assembled route, click 'Export Merged GPX' in the bottom stats bar. You can customize the track name and choose how route gaps are formatted: split into separate track segments at gaps to prevent unwanted straight lines on bike computers, or merge into a single continuous track.
Which GPS devices and apps are supported?
Merge GPX outputs standard GPX (GPS Exchange Format) compliant with Garmin Edge, Wahoo ELEMNT, Hammerhead Karoo, Coros, Strava, Komoot, and OsmAnd.
Is my ride and GPX data private?
Yes, 100%. All GPX file parsing, coordinates math, sub-segment decomposition, and GPX generation occur locally inside your web browser. Your tracks are never uploaded or stored on any server.
How does the smart routing bridge work?
When two trace segments do not connect, Merge GPX queries bike-specific routing engines (OpenRouteService and OpenStreetMap OSRM) to calculate the safest, most bike-friendly road or trail connection between the endpoints.
